Alzheimer’s disease is a neurodegenerative disease that affects the central nervous system, resulting in physical and cognitive decline, loss of memory, consciousness and perception of self and reality.
Paolo Ruffini travels across Italy to interview people with Alzheimer’s disease and their family members, referred to as Alzheimer’s “second victims,” who face a huge physical and emotional burden accompanying their loved ones through the painful journey of the disease.
From Alzheimer’s disease, to date, it is not possible to cure it, however, it is possible to cure it, in the sense of “taking care” of those one loves, and the only possible cure is love. The narrative center of the documentary is not the disease, but the emotions and feelings that bind patients to their loved ones.

Fondazione Polli Stoppani had the great pleasure of being able to contribute to this great and courageous tale that concerns us all as human beings, as people. Thanks to Paolo Ruffini, Ivana Di Biase and all the Vera Film staff for sharing this journey together
